MANILA — The House prosecution panel has received copies of the bank and tax records it sought from Vice President Sara Z. Duterte, her husband Manases “Mans” Carpio, and their companies, clearing the way for a detailed review ahead of the panel’s presentation on alleged unexplained wealth. From the Philippine Times of Southern Nevada, September 7, 2026 edition, page A-1 (MNS). In a press briefing Thursday, House prosecutor and Bicol Saro Party-list Rep. Terry Ridon said the Senate impeachment court released the records to the panel on Wednesday afternoon, after receiving and securing the documents produced in response to its subpoenas. What the Records Cover Ridon, who leads the prosecution team assigned to Article II, said the panel would now examine the material against Duterte’s statements of assets, liabilities and net worth, her declared income, and her business interests. The impeachment court granted the prosecution’s requests for the financial records in July. Six banks subsequently submitted records involving Duterte and Carpio, and the Bureau of Internal Revenue delivered their tax documents. The court completed inventory and security procedures before releasing copies to the parties. What Article II Alleges Article II of the impeachment trial accuses Duterte of accumulating wealth allegedly disproportionate to her lawful income, failing to make full disclosures in her Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN), and continuing business interests while serving as Vice President. Duterte’s defense has disputed the allegations. What Happens Next Ridon said the prosecution was preparing to begin presenting Article II by mid- or late September, following the expected completion of its confidential-fund evidence. He said the records would be tested against the specific claims contained in Article II before any document is presented in court, describing the financial documents as the last major pillar of the evidence on alleged unexplained wealth.
