In a community where mental illness is still something families handle quietly, several hundred people spent a Saturday morning in a Las Vegas park saying the opposite out loud. Third Annual Walk for Mental Health and Breast Cancer at Paradise-McLeod Park

Fil-Am Civic Action International, Inc. (FACAI), in partnership with the FACAI Foundation and Miss Fil-Am Nevada USA, held its third annual Walk for Mental Health and Breast Cancer on September 5, 2026, at Paradise-McLeod Park in Las Vegas.

The theme — “Breaking Barriers, Building Hope—One Step at a Time” — framed mental and physical health as a shared community responsibility rather than a private burden. Families, wellness advocates, community leaders, supporters and FACAI beauty queens walked side by side.

More Than a Fitness Event

Educational stations and guest speakers shared information on mental and physical wellness. Complimentary water and healthy snacks kept walkers energized. Participants received commemorative medals as a reminder that every step — and every conversation — can make a difference.

The presence of FACAI’s pageant queens added visibility to the cause, showing that beauty is expressed not only through poise and appearance but through empathy, service, and concern for the whole person. Coronation Night for the Miss Fil-Am Nevada USA 2027 pageant follows on September 26 at Sam’s Town Live.

Optional donations supported FACAI’s community programs, including initiatives that promote mental health awareness and connect people with helpful resources.
