MANILA, July 8 (Mabuhay) — Kapamilya actress Angelica Panganiban had to turn down two theater plays before she was able to muster the courage to try it.
As she marked her successful theater debut, Angelica took to Instagram to talk about her new milestone as an actress.
It was always her dream to enter the theater world, but she was hindered by doubts and fears, as she said in her previous interviews.
Wala pa kong lakas ng loob noon,” she said in the same post.
Angelica admitted that she deeply resonated with the script of ‘Don’t Meow for Me, Catriona! by Ryan Machado, prompting her to say yes to the project.
“Mula nang mabasa ko ang dula ni sir @muchadoaboutryan, hindi maalis sa isip ko ang mensahe,” she said.
The actress said the play helped her to cope with the grief that she has been dealing after her mom, Annabelle, passed away in August 2024.
Hindi naman ako nagkamali,” she said.
Angelica said the respect she has for art has evolved after doing the one-act play.
“Kasama ng pangarap, materyal, napakahuhusay na bumubuo ng entablado, nagkaroon ako ng bagong respeto sa sining,” she said.
In the same post, Angelica also honored the people who guided her as she ventured into theater, particulary her co-actress Peewee O’hara and their director Toni Go.
“Maraming maraming salamat sa gabay direk @toni.go_ at nanay Peewee O’hara,” she expressed.
Angelica also expressed her gratitude to her friends who showed their support during the staging of the play.
“Sa lahat ng kaibigan at na nag bigay ng oras, at suporta, hinding hindi kayo makakalimutan,” she said.
In an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN last June, the actress shared the greatest lesson her character Phoebe has taught her.
Siguro yun, yun yung tumatatak talaga sa akin,” she said.
Don’t Meow For Me, Catriona, which ran from June 11 to 29, was part of the lineup for the 20th anniversary of Virgin Lab Festival. (MNS)
